Hello! It’s my turn in the Kitty Bee Designs spotlight and this month I’ve created a quick card with the digital stamp Cow Barely Over The Moon.

I started by printing out the stamp onto XPress-it blending card and colored it with various brands of alcohol markers. I went over the moon with yellow Lyra Rembrandt Coloured Pencils, to give it light to dark shading from top to bottom. I fussy cut the image out and inked the edges of the image with a black Memento marker.

For the card itself, I decided on some ombre inking on Neenah cardstock. I’m really not a fan of how Distress Oxide Ink leave such a stark blending line, no matter how much you blend. My super smooth, seamless blend uses both Distress Oxides and regular Distress Inks together in my own technique. In short, I lay down a layer of Distress Oxide Ink and then blend the stark blending lines out with regular Distress Inks. The two mix together and remove that stark blending line completely. This technique also means you don’t need lots of Oxide colors, particularly if you already have the corresponding regular Distress Inks. I have found I only need the lighter colors of Oxide Ink because I can blend my darker regular Distress Inks over the top to get the ombre look I want. The combination of the two inks improve how both types blend and blending really does become effortless. You can read even more about this technique of mine in this earlier post.

Once dry, I used the outermost die from the Sue Wilson Mosaic Border Background Die Set to cut my panel down to size, as well as cutting two more panels to create a yellow hinged card base. I then used all the dies from the Sizzix Swirling Stars Die Set to cut apertures in my blue panel and glued that to the front of my card base. I added my Cow Barely Over The Moon image with some foam tape in the centre of my card. I also die cut a yellow star from a scrap piece of cardstock to use as a tag and stamped a simple greeting with black Memento dye ink, using one of the sentiments from the Your Next Stamp Party Pets stamp set. I added more foam tape behind the star and glued it into place.

This card really was quick and fun to put together and I hope I can inspire you to try making quick cards with my easy blending technique. Thanks so much for spending time with me today. I look forward to next time…😊
