Hello! Today sees the start of the latest Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday Challenge that has a “in the garden” theme. My inspiration features the Purple Pansies digital kit by Fred She Said.
This card is yet another I’ve created with digital elements on my computer. Starting with a blank file, I layered the background paper, the cup full of pansies and a solid frame. I then overlaid another solid block to the bottom of the screen and added the row of pansies along its border. I saved the entire image as a jpeg file. I printed my file twice, once directly onto a 5″×7″ card base, ready to just add my extras. I fussy cut the flowers in the cup from the extra background panel I had printed, as well as the row of pansies and the bottom block of solid color. Using foam tape, I glued the fussy cut top layers into place, which gave the bottom border of the card and the flowers in the cup lots of dimension.
I still wanted to add an extra handmade factor to my card so I experimented with number of different embellishments before deciding on some small silver pearls. I marked the border of the card evenly with a white gel pen and glued each pearl individually into place with Ranger Multi Medium Matte Adhesive. I then added pearls to the dots along the side of the cup to help tie all the elements together. I finished off with a simple peel off sticker sentiment in the bottom right corner.
I love how some pre-colored images mixed together can create such a pretty card. It’s fun to watch your design come together on your screen and gives you the ability to easily swap elements in and out with little fuss to get the look you’re after. Thanks so much for spending time with me today. I look forward to next time…😊
A lovely card. So much can be done by layering and constructing a card front digitally before printing, cutting and sticking.
