Hello! Today sees the start of the latest Creative Fingers Challenge and Bugaboo is back as our sponsor. I just love working with their images because it gives me the opportunity to make something that’s a little on the mischievous side.

This creation is unusual for me. I normally stick to cards but this time I’ve made something a little different. I needed to print out some medical notes for upcoming appointments and the information may need to be photocopied. Binding the pages together may not be the best idea so adding the printouts to the clear pockets of a display book seemed a little more practical. I didn’t want the printouts to be seen through the clear front cover of my book so I decided to make a decorative front cover.

I thought Bugaboo’s Stella Peeker – On Time digital stamp would be just perfect for me, I’m often known to be five minutes late. I created an A4 blank file in Photoshop and added a digital watercolour background from The Hungry Jpeg’s Heavenly Background Bundle. I overlaid both the image and the caption, and a thin digital border, printing it out as a full page onto X-Press It blending card.

My colouring was pretty basic, using a combination of all the Chameleon products. I was able to incorporate the pens, the color tops, the fineliners and pencils into this larger sized project. The best thing of all was that the colours are consistent across all these products so there was no guesswork involved.

Once I had finished, I added some Sakura Clear Glitter pen to Stella’s jewelry and the handbag clasp then, once that was fully dry, I went over that same glitter with the Sakura clear glaze pen, to seal the glitter so there was no threat of any smudging. I then slipped the entire A4 page into the front of the clear covered display book.

Now, my medical notes aren’t visible to others and my booklet has a quirky and lighthearted cover to make me smile as I’m, no doubt, rushing to the next appointment. I can look at Stella as my very own avatar!

I have been practicing this craft since 2004 and am self taught, only learning from published lessons. I have found this has stopped me learning others' bad habits and I often find economical ways to achieve my results. I've found that primarily making cards gives me a constant supply of projects to complete and giving them as part of a gift is always well received. The only downside to it all? I dare not buy a card for anyone now, they would be devistated and, quite possibly insulted. But I take that as a compliment.
