Hello! Another Creative Fingers Challenge is underway and it’s sponsored by the awesome Michelle Tracey Art.

My inspiration uses Sienna And The Deer Enchant The Garden to create a simple watercolour feature for a die cut, hinged card base. I started by printing the image onto suitable cardstock for use with my Zig brush markers and my Chameleon Fineliners. Both being great watercolours, I can use the brush tips of the Zig brush markers for larger areas and come in with the super fine tips of the Chameleons for the super fine detailed regions in my smaller card sized image.

I also printed the image onto regular copy paper, to use as a mask for the main area of the image. I fussy cut this out, added some Scotch Restickable glue to the back and adhered it in place to do some ink blending for the background. I used an ink blending brush and distress inks to create a simple background and allowed it to dry before colouring the image with my watercolour markers.

Once dry, I die cut the image down to fit a matching scalloped edge die that I was planning to use. I then die cut a piece of gold glitter card with that scalloped edge rectangle die, along with a piece of regular white card so that I could create my hinged die cut card base. I scored the white die cut ¼ inch down from the top edge and added some liquid PVA along the edge so it could be glued to the back of the glitter card front. I added some double sided tape to the back of my feature panel and glued it directly onto the glittery card front.

To finish the card off, I die cut a sentiment, using a Whimsy Stamps Birthday Wishes and Magical die set and four decorative photo corners from more glitter cardstock. I glued each corner into place and added the sentiment to the top right corner. I love how the glitter card matched in with my fantasy image.

I have been practicing this craft since 2004 and am self taught, only learning from published lessons. I have found this has stopped me learning others' bad habits and I often find economical ways to achieve my results. I've found that primarily making cards gives me a constant supply of projects to complete and giving them as part of a gift is always well received. The only downside to it all? I dare not buy a card for anyone now, they would be devistated and, quite possibly insulted. But I take that as a compliment.
