Hello! Today, I’m sharing a quick card I made for the new Creative Fingers Challenge. I’ve chosen to use a cute little digi set called Kitties from this month’s sponsor, Maria Medal Illustrations. I had so much choice with this set that I couldn’t decide which one of the kitties to use, so when in doubt, I decided to use them all!
I started by printing all the kitties onto XPress-it blending card, making sure all the images were the same size. I colored them all in with various sets of grey alcohol markers. I used warm, cool and toner greys to vary each kitty’s color. I then cut each of the kitties out, leaving a slight white border for a little definition.
When creating a background for these kitties, I decided something relatively simple was needed, considering the number of elements I already had for the card. I masked off the lower section of a piece of Neenah cardstock and, using My Favorite Things Sun Rays stencil and an Inkylicious ink duster brush, I added Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink over the stencil, blending it out to nothing. I then rotated the stencil slightly, so the rays were in the middle of the already inked rays and blended Mustard Seed Distress Ink over the stencil. This gave me double the rays eminating out from the sun in alternating colors. I masked the top section off and blended Iced Spruce Distress Oxide with Bundled Sage Distress Ink onto the lower section of the card, blending it all out to almost nothing.
After trimming down the background to 6.5″×4.5″, I matted it onto a slightly larger piece of black card and adhered both pieces to a 5″×7″ card base. I glued some of the kitties directly onto the background and added the lower kitties to the panel using foam tape, just for a little dimension. The top section of the card looked a little bare so I quickly die cut a few clouds, using a generic cloud die set, and added them randomly to the top of the card.
Finally, I die cut a stitched fishtail sentiment strip, using My Favorite Things Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips, from black card and stamped the purr-fect sentiment from Your Next Stamp’s Party Animal Stamp Set with Versamark ink, heat embossing it with Wow Superfine Embossing Powder. I finished off by gluing it into place over some of the clouds.
I think all the elements gave a perspective of waking up at sunrise and I think that gave context to the card overall. I really liked how well the stamped sentiment worked into that same context.
Thanks so much for spending time with me today. I look forward to next time…😊
