Hello! Can you believe we’re already a month into 2018? For this month’s Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight, I thought I’d make a cute Valentine’s Day card, using Kitty Bee Designs’ Cupid Couple Valentine Pandas.
Starting with the digital image, I printed the Pandas onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and colored them with Chameleon Pens. There isn’t a lot of coloring in this image so I made sure what I could color would be bright and bold to help highlight the feature image.
I wanted the focus to be on the Pandas so I kept the rest of the card fairly simple. I printed a piece of hearts digital paper, from an old digital paper collection I had, onto another piece of cardstock and cut a 5″×7″ card base from that printed card. This gave me a printed card, with the pattern on both the front and back of the card. It was just a little extra to add to a fairly simple design.
To add some sparkle to the front of the card, I decided to use a piece of mulberry paper that I sprayed with Tsukineko Sparkle Shimmer Spritz for the accompanying elements. Mulberry paper is highly absorbant so I allowed it to dry for quite a while before using it on my card.
I die cut the feature image with a generic lace frame square die and cut a small sentiment tag using a matching generic rectangle die set. I stamped the word “muah”, from Mama Elephant’s Timeless Tulips Stamp Set, onto the rectangle die cut, using Tsukineko Memento Rhubarb Stalk dye ink. I also carefully overlaid Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen over the stamped word once the dye ink had dried. I also went back to the feature image and added the Sparkle Pen to each heart in the image.
I then turned my attention to my Mulberry paper and cut a strip to place behind the feature panel and die cut three hearts, using Simon Says Stamp Lots Of Hearts Die Set. I glued the Mulberry paper strip into place so it would be centered behind the feature panel. I then added the feature panel to the top section of the card with foam tape. I added more foam tape to the back of the sentiment rectangle and adhered it to the bottom section of the card front, centering it in the remaining space on the card. I finished off by adding the three Mulberry hearts around the sentiment with Ranger Multi Medium Matte Adhesive.
This is a really simple card to create and the lace edge of the dies, along with the card base created from printed cardstock was more than enough interest to add to this cute Kitty Bee Designs Cupid Couple Panda image. I hope it inspires you to visit Kitty Bee Designs’ Etsy Store and make a sweet card just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Thanks so much for spending time with me today. I look forward to next time…😊
